The Galley Hall

Free House Pub and Restaurant

Our History

Originally dating back to 1374, the building was originally a farmhouse known as “Collewelle Haw,” but by 1765, its name had evolved to “Galley Hall.” The Galley Hall became a beer house in the 1830s, under the management of one Benjamin Logsdale, whose name appears in the first census returns of 1840. The deeds were conveyed in 1837 to Christie and Cathrow Brewers of Hoddesdon, although the property was likely leased to them earlier.

Bringing us up to date, the pub has since been extended and modernized to include an additional function room, a patio area, and an outside bar, providing comfortable dining spaces and venues for events.
